Use commas for thousands and a dot for decimals (2,000.50). Your inputs are not submitted.

YOUR RESULT

Enter your inputs and select Calculate.

How it works

(Price − cost) ÷ cost × 100

A $60 item sold for $100 has a 66.67% markup.

What the result means

Markup uses cost as its denominator. Margin uses selling price, so the same transaction has a 40% margin. A 50% markup does not create a 50% margin.

Assumptions & limits

Mathematical estimate using the values entered. Costs or conditions not included in your inputs are excluded. Method reviewed October 18, 2026.
